Thrasher Magazine and Adidas teamed up to recreate the famous Y ramp of 1989,Hell of a Paradise, originally held at the Blaisdell Center, but in 2018 it was front and center on Waikiki Beach. Tons of the pros from the original contest, top pros of today, local rippers all went at it, jam format style for a decent chunk of change! ShittyKids Mikey Albert and Bedpan were there passing the camera around, here is what that captured of the madness! Enjoy! Congrats to Roman Pabich for the overall win and ShittyKids Cyprus Blanco winning best trick over spine!
On April 20th, 2018 we hosted a party across the street from the shop to celebrate Adidas x Krooked collaboration which honors Mark Gonzales 20 years with Adidas! Skate shop owners from all across the country and the Hawaiian islands came out to enjoy, thanks to Adidas! There was amazing food, dope music spinning from Dj Blam, and a skate jam
Bedpan Productions and heavy crew head to Westside for the freshly upgraded Ewa Beach park! About a decade now the skatepark in Ewa Beach has gone pretty much unskateable! Rain had eroded the flat ground to near gravel and huge cracks in front of every obstacle made just rolling up a ramp challenging. Thanks to the skaters and the community of Ewa Beach who petitioned, fundraised, and even helped in the making of new obstacles! Along with the Association of Skateboarders Hawaii they were also able to get a super smooth flatground poured! New bright lights as well, so if its too hot in the day, you can always get an evening sesh in! Mahalo to everyone who helped with this project!
Kailua native, skater and tattoo artist, Kekoa Lum has been an 808 Skate head since day one(literally 1995). We are stoked to team up with him on this new graphic tee. Come grab the shirt at 808 Skate and check Kekoa at Loyalty Tattoo in Kailua. Shoots! @koaluminati @mongeezy_
4th annual Shittykids St. Patricks Day best trick contest down at Aala park was crazy as ever! The locals at the park took it, with Aaron Honaker a repeat winner of last year, winning the bank to bank pot of gold with a perfect backside double flip! It got dark, and out came the sketchy, with some near death doubles slams between shitties Mikey and Leif. In the end Mikey couldn't seal the top bar blunt fakie, so local ripper Craig surfed into da lip win with multiple middle bar front pivots! See you all next year! Thank you to Justine and Ryan Scraggs for filming. Miguel for the support. Thank you to 808 Skate and Brice at Happy Hour shades!
The year is 2012, world famous graffiti artist Katch 1 had recently returned home to the islands after a long time train bombing and skating the cuts of Los Angeles. Katch links up with Bedpan to drop in on sketchy walls, jam some poles, paint/skate Oahu's crustist of ditches, and test out the tat gun! Natty Kon for life!
We get things popping in Episode 19 first with my toe in a birthday doubles collision with Bday bro, Larry Warnken! Go caveman styley down the Petrie 11 with the bearded Willie D, hit some new DIY ditch creations on the Windward side of Oahu, go top of the wall with Mikey Albert at Keolu skatepark, ledge dancing with 808 Skate riders Mike G and Kevin Oshea, and finish it off on the bump to bar at Kalaheo high school! Thanks to Josh Ruubs and Justine Albert for the contribution of footage! Stitches are out from the toe, so lets shred Hawaii! music: Twit One-Thai Wallah
Off to a great start in the '18! Ditches are getting patched up with crete, new ledge spots take a beating, Mikey gets up high at Keolu, Lil Cyprus destroys the Fitted Ramp while Bedpan almost loses a toe. Be sure to watch the full Eighto8 Lately 19 next week here or on 808skate.com!
